Written by William Peterkin, Sunshine Over Showers was recorded on December 13, 1975 at Total Experience Studios, in Los Angeles, a studio founded by Lonnie Simmons, a Funk producer/manager/label owner who is best-known for his work with The Gap Band. This 4 minutes and 38 seconds song is a beautiful ballad with soft guitar & electric piano chords divided in three parts. At two-and-a-half minutes into the song, Donny briefly changes gear and morphs into a mid-tempo funk number before resuming its original tempo. Definitely, one of Donny Hathaway best studio performance and is included in the forthcoming great 4 CD box called Never My Love : The Anthology available worldwide on November 11th, 2013 in limited edition. Thank you, once again to Warner France for this sample.
