Extremely rare american test pressing double vinyl (Matrix number R1-541097), made by Record Technology Incorporated Records (RTI is a world class record pressing plant located in Camarillo, California) on December, 18th 2013. This copy of "Live At the The Bitter End 1971",was sold on Ebay USA for $100.

The regular edition (limited to 4000 numbered copies) was available and sold around $35 (40/45 euros) during the Record Store day around the world on April 19th 2014.

Never My Love - The Anthology - Warner UK 2013

Seven years before Earth Wind & Fire, Donny Hathaway recorded a song called Let's Groove at the Record Plant in New-York City on january 11, 1974 (Atlantic master tape #28337). This 6 minutes and 41 seconds song is totally different as you can hear below, jazz oriented. That day, No Other One But You, Going Down & The Essence Of Destiny were also taped (you could hear these songs on the french boxset called Someday We'll All Be Free - check the link above). Donny performed with Ron Carter on bass, Chuggy Carter on percussion, Grady Tate on drums and more great musicians. Today, Warner France has posted a 2 min sample for all the fans. Thank you guys !

Never My Love : The Anthology - 4CD Boxset

Three years after the french boxset called Someday We'll All Be Free and 10 years after the aborted project from Rhino UK, Warner is gonna release Never My Love : The Anthology a new 4 CD boxset on nov. 11th, 2013  including 13 never heard before songs and unreleased live takes recorded at the Bitter End (New-York City) in october 1971. This box contains a very long essay written by the english journalist Charles Waring plus an interview with Roberta Flack.

The first CD compiled some classic tracks (incl some edit versions published only on 45 rpm) recorded by Donny Hathaway including the duets with June Conquest he recorded in the late sixties for Curtom Records, Curtis Mayfield label based in Chicago.

The second CD compiled 13 never heard before demos; mostly "work in progress" tracks including a 20 minutes long amazing classical concerto (previously calley Life Pt. 1-4) recorded in october 1973 after the Newport Jazz festival tour, Donny did during the summer 1973.

The third CD compiled some unreleased takes recorded at The Bitter End in NYC. Donny played 9 sets, between October 27 & 29 1971. You could hear for the first time a 15 min funky version of The Ghetto and an alternative take of Everything Is Everything incl. an other Willie Weeks amazing bass solo and a great bluesy solo played Cornell Dupree, Donny's guitarist.

Last CD compiled all studio tracks with Roberta Flack officially already released between 1972 to 1977.

Where Is The Love - BBC2 radio show dedicated to Donny Hathaway - CD 

On August 16th, 2011 BBC 2 english radio broadcasted a 57 minutes documentary called Where Is The Love on Donny Hathaway. Roberta Flack paid a tribute to him with help of friends, family and colleagues who knew him well. Contributors included Hatahway's daughter's Lalah & Donnita, musical director and friend Harold Wheeler, co-writer, friend and fellow Howard University graduate Leroy Hutson and American Music radio broadcaster, Dyana Williams.

Really rare pressing.

A fan has posted the song Never My Love on Youtube. This never heard before demo is the A-side of an Atco 45 rpm issued on April 20th, during the Record Store Day 2013 in USA, France, Germany, UK & The Netherlands. Limited edition to 1500 copies.

Extension of a Man : Quadraphonic Reel to Reel US tape

This quadraphonic reel to reel stereo tape (discrete 7 1/2 IPS) was issued in 1973 on Atco Records (ATCQ 7029-QR) in USA. This special edition of Extension Of A Man has a different mix made by Joel Dorn including some lines of strings and the cover is slightly different too. This tape is quite rare today and it's usually sold around $200. You could also find the version on LP & 8-track.

Two unreleased songs will be released for the Record Store Day 2013

Warner USA is gonna publish a new 45 rpm for the Record Store Day on April 20th 2013. This single includes 2 unreleased songs recorded by Donny Hathaway probably in the late seventies. Side A is Never My Love, a pop song written by Donald et Richard Addrissi in 1967. Side B is Memories Of Love, a never heard before song composed by Donny Hathaway. More info coming soon !

This very rare american 1 sided 45 rpm acetate is dated from August 8th, 1972. This 2:05 min track is the last one included on the soundtrack called Come Back Charleston Blue. It was written by Al Cleveland / Donny Hathaway / Quincy Jones and sung as a duet with Margie Joseph. Catalog number is 6899.
